Filming in Africa can be fun. Filming in Africa can also be super tough if the locations are remote and there are limited travel options to reach the client specific locations required for a project. Firecracker Collective, with our experience of filming in Africa, was lucky to have fun on some pretty tough locations in our previous life as Farm Africa on this service production, before evolving into our current, lighter company structure. Several delays due to Covid + assorted travel restrictions meant a number of false starts before we were finally able meet the teams from France, England and South Africa in Zimbabwe for the first section of the commercial project.

Reviving Origins is a long-term partnership program in which Nespresso and farmers work hand in hand to revive an excellent coffee that is disappearing. Nespresso has partnered with more than 2,000 farms through the Reviving Origins program to educate local farmers on sustainable farming practices.

Our locations in both Zimbabwe and Uganda for the 2022 Global Campaign were remote and could only be accessed via road in dedicated 4×4 vehicles, often taking over 2 hours of travel in each direction from the crew accommodation and severely limited our on-set catering options (living on bananas and toasted sandwiches is only exciting for a while) and facilities. Filmed in both the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe and the Rwenzori Mountains region of Western Uganda, the finished commercials by Director Neels Castillon from Motion Palace in Paris + RSA Films out of the UK are just beautiful.
