Lekhubu Island

Lekhubu / Kubu Island, located in Botswana’s Makgadikgadi Pan, is a large granite rock island surrounded by a vast expanse of salt pans. This remote and mysterious island is known for its stunning landscapes and ancient baobab trees, which create an otherworldly atmosphere. While the island is uninhabited, it holds significant cultural and spiritual importance to the indigenous people.

The surrounding salt flats, which were once part of an ancient lake, create a surreal and mesmerizing environment – the amazing sunsets and a night sky filled with stars make it a popular destination for photographers and film makers that don’t mind a bit of rough.

Due to the island’s remote location, it is essential to come well-prepared with carefully prepped logistics,  sufficient supplies and a respect for the fragile ecosystem.

Kubu Island is not just a location; visiting is an unforgettable journey to a magical place.
