Dogon
On a recent trip to Mali, we witnessed the Dogon Mask Dance, a significant cultural tradition. The Dogon, a West African people, have a complex belief system involving cosmology, rituals, and symbolism.
Dogon culture is deeply tied to the cosmos. Their iconic tradition, the Sigui stilt and mask dances, symbolizes respect for cultural cycles and honours Sirius.
Attending the annual festival is an experience truly unique and enriching, offering an opportunity to delve into the heart of Africa, where spirituality and tradition converge in a spectacle of colours, sounds, and emotions. The Dogon Mask Festival pays homage to the diversity of African culture.
Mali is a tough but really interesting location.
